Facebook's ever-shifting privacy policy has taken a turn for the worse lately. Many blogs, industry analysts, tech journals, and even the United States Government has taken notice of the changes to their privacy policies, and its apparent assault on common sense user privacy.
Although Facebook offers settings to control much of your personal privacy, those options are buried under multiple menus and can be hard to understand. Some appalling "features" are opt-out, meaning that by default you are sharing your personal information to the world unless you specifically navigate your way through the maze of settings to disable them.
With each available action below, there is an explanation of what it is, why you should consider changing your settings, references to external sites about the specific issue, and finally a button to launch the wizard to fix it.
This "feature" shares your personal information with external sites like Pandora, Yelp, and Microsoft Docs (currently the only 3 applications supported). Your data is sent to them so when you access their site, they know who you are and a bunch of stuff about you. This is opt-out, meaning Facebook has already sent them your personal data unless you specifically disable it!

Did you know that when your friend uses an application (like even a simple survey about what character they would be in a movie), that the application can access YOUR information via your friend? You can prevent this by controlling what information about you your friends are allowed to pass on to applications.
By default, Facebook allows some of your personal profile information to be visible to a wider range of people than you might expect - including the entire Internet! Check each group of settings to make sure that your data isn't being shared with more people than you want.
Once you interact with an application (like Farmville, or a quizz, etc), you have given that application permission to access your profile information forever. You can check which applications are authorized to access your information and/or post to your wall by editing application settings.
